Like many flasks of this period from Syria, the body is constructed from two circles and seperately made handles and neck . The moulded design features a rosette in the center encircled by patterns, lines and script. Pilgrim-flask, buff earthenware with moulded decoration. Round body with flattened sides, tall and tapering neck on top to which a pair of handles are attached. A large epigraphic band, written in beautiful thuluth style, surrounds the central medallion which is decorated with an intricate scrollwork. Syria or Palestine, 8th 12th century. Geza Ferhavari - (LO.1053)
